Squarespace or a managed restaurant website: a pretty template, or a site that keeps the room full?

Squarespace is known for polished, photography-friendly templates, and an owner with a good eye can make a lovely restaurant site with it. What it does not do is run the site for you: menus, hours, seasonal photos, articles and the map listing are still your weekly job. Our managed plans are for owners who want the looks and the upkeep handled, plus AI that answers guests on the plans that include it.

When Squarespace is the better fit

  • You have a strong eye, good photography and time each week to keep the site current yourself.
  • You want to change layouts and colors yourself whenever you like.
  • Your needs are simple: a menu, hours and a gallery, with bookings handled entirely off-site.

When a managed neighborhood restaurant website wins

  • The gallery is gorgeous but the menu is a PDF and the hours are wrong half the season.
  • You want articles, map listing updates and speed checks done for you every week.
  • You want the site to answer guests: on The Full House and Standing Room Only the AI Engine covers chat, calls and texts.

What you get with a managed site

The parts of every plan that matter most in this comparison, with the plans that carry them. The Table starts at $117 a month.

Website

  • A gallery built for a room people post about

A photo-forward layout that makes the space and the plates the main event.

    Solves
Dark phone photos or stock images undersell a room people would happily post about.
    You do
Send photos when you have them; we tell you which shots help most.
    • Included on The Table
    • Included on The Full House
    • Included on Standing Room Only
  • A menu page that never falls behind the kitchen

Update prices, specials and dishes yourself, or hand it to us, without touching code.

    Solves
A PDF or out-of-date menu makes guests call to ask what is on tonight, or go elsewhere.
    You do
Send the change: a photo of the new menu is enough.
    • Included on The Table
    • Included on The Full House
    • Included on Standing Room Only
  • Pages that open instantly

Custom-coded pages served from the edge, 90+ PageSpeed guaranteed.

    Solves
A slow page loses the guest deciding on a phone outside, and the paid click you already bought.
    You do
Nothing. Speed is checked at launch and after every revision.

    • Included on The Full House
    • Included on Standing Room Only

AI Engine

  • AI chat on your website

A chat window on every page that answers guests at any hour and passes real inquiries to you.

    Solves
Questions sent at 11pm on a Saturday sit unanswered until Monday, and the guest books elsewhere.
    You do
Approve the answers before launch; tell us when a policy changes.
    • Not on The Table
    • Included on The Full House

Moving from Squarespace

We rebuild the site around your existing photography and brand, turn image or PDF menus into real text, set redirects for any page addresses that change, reconnect your reservation tool and switch the domain at launch.

  1. 1Share your Squarespace site and your best photography.
  2. 2We rebuild the design around your room, keeping what already works.
  3. 3Menus become real text; bookings and forms are reconnected.
  4. 4Domain switched at launch; redirects in place for changed addresses.

See the difference on a real build

A 30-minute walk-through of the site you would get, with your menu and your room. Plans from $117 a month; the $647 build fee is invoiced only after you approve the launch.

What owners say after switching

  • The menu on the site finally matches what comes out of the kitchen. Regulars stopped calling to ask if the Tuesday prix fixe is still on, because the page says so, and the waitlist fills from the sidewalk on a Friday instead of from the host stand phone.

Marisol Vega, OwnerNeighborhood bistro, Chicago, ILThe Table plan, menu page and waitlist on the homepage
  • Our list used to live in a PDF nobody could open on a phone at 11pm. Now a new cocktail is on the site the same week we pour it, and the chat answers "are you doing a happy hour tonight" while the bar is three deep.

Darnell Brooks, OwnerCocktail bar, Atlanta, GAThe Full House plan, cocktail list pages and AI chat
  • People used to find us through a delivery app because that was the only thing in search. Now our own pickup page shows up, brunch and dinner menus are separate, and the orders come to us at our own prices.

Questions about Squarespace and EateryWebStudio

Is Squarespace good for restaurants?

It is a solid choice for a design-minded owner. Templates are polished and photography looks good. The limitation is that it is a tool you run yourself, so the site is only as current as your time allows.

Will my site look as good as a Squarespace template?

It is designed around your actual room and photos rather than a template other restaurants share, with one accent color, one type pairing and one spacing system carried through every page.

Can you keep my existing photos?

Yes. We build the gallery around the photography you have and tell you which extra shots would help most. We do not take photos ourselves.

Why does a PDF menu matter?

A PDF is hard to read on a phone and gives search engines little to work with. A real text menu loads fast, reads well outside in bad light, and lets a specific dish show up in search.

Is my Squarespace site slow?

It might be, especially with large images and several embedded widgets. Every page we build and host is guaranteed 90+ Google PageSpeed on mobile and desktop.

Can I still edit the design myself?

You ask and we do it. Any change counts as one revision, whatever its size, so a new homepage photo and a full redesign of the events page cost the same.

What happens to my Squarespace domain?

If you own it, we point it at the new site. If it is registered through Squarespace, it stays yours and can be transferred or pointed; we walk you through it.

What does it cost compared with Squarespace?

Squarespace is a subscription you run yourself. Ours is $117 to $597 a month with the work included, plus a $647 build fee invoiced after you approve the launch.

Squarespace is a trademark of its owner. EateryWebStudio is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the owner of Squarespace.
